Life is an improvisation. You have no idea what's going to happen next and you are mostly just making things up as you go along.

– Stephen Colbert

Dear Alumnus,

The world is changing at a rapid phase, with new kinds of work and new ways of doing that work. So is dentistry too. So, Discover a new passion for dentistry, Evaluate new products and techniques, Decide what technology is best suited for your practice. Perform procedures faster, easier, and with higher quality. Clinicians should be aware of, be able to critically evaluate, and apply new information, updates, and paradigm changes wisely.

Oral health is a key to general health and well-being in every stage of life. Yet, basic oral health services remain out of reach for millions of people. More than half of the world's population suffer from untreated oral diseases, which can result in pain, infection, and loss of productivity. Integrating oral health into universal health coverage will help improve oral health outcomes and reduce inequalities in access to care.

In a country like ours, few steps need to be taken; one such initiative has been introduced like Danta Bhagya Yojana to move closer to develop and implement its own universal health coverage package and essential health services that integrates oral health and fills the needs of the population.

The function of education, therefore, is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character–that is the goal of true education.

– Martin Luther King Jr.

You all started your journey in Bapuji Dental College and Hospital (BDCH) and have grown up as a bamboo tree, tall and stiff.

The law of a bamboo tree is, you start with a little seed and water it, but nothing happens. The 2nd year you water it, again nothing happens. The 3rd year you water it, and still no sign of your effort. How frustrating if you stayed consistent and continued to water it into the 5th year. The tree finally sprouts and grows up to 90 ft in 6 weeks.

So, what was the plot doing those 5 years. Seemingly dormant period, it was growing its roots. For 5 full years, it was preparing itself for rapid, full growth. Without this root structure, the plant simply could not support itself for its future growth, which also survives by bending with the wind. Hence, we nurtured your careers in BDCH for years, and now, you all stand tall and respectable in the society.

For a moment, just pause and reflect on those nice memories while at BDCH and think how different your life would have been without passing through its corridors.

We hope that you enjoy reading your alumni journal and find yourself among the pages of this journal, if not, than you can contribute for the next one.
