Dear Alumnus,

“Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you find it.”

–Marian Wright Edelman

Wishing you all Happy New Year,

New Year is upon us, and I hope this year seems to bring a light of freshness, the spirit of renewed possibilities around us all.

As we face the end of the first decade in the new millennium, we must come together to share ideas and resources to the next generation of Students, Faculty, and Researchers. It is with great pride, enthusiasm, and anticipation that I invite you to read the first issue of this year International Journal of Oral Health Sciences.

As all of us are aware, Bapuji Dental College and Hospital is an illustrious Institution that has positively shaped the Lives of those who entered its portals. The Alumni of college are among the fortunate few who have had the opportunity to blossom in an ideal ambience among a rewarding academic environment. Now, our Alumni have gone the next step to lead, engage, and manage very significant and beneficial humanitarian ventures both in our country and abroad. The Alumni of Bapuji are spread across the world holding position of eminence. Hence, the Journal has received quality articles from all quarters and is read globally.

“Be practical as well as generous in your ideals. Keep your eyes on the stars, but remember to keep your feet on the ground.”

–Theodore Roosevelt

That Means, always aspire for more, but never lose track of who you are throughout your journey. Have your mind, your vision, set on your goals hence “keep your eyes on the stars.” It is about visualizing ones dreams and seeing them unfold in your eyes.

Hence My Dear Alumnus, to realize there will be setbacks along the way, but that is just a part of life that no matter what obstacles life will throw at you, that no matter how hard it gets that keeping your feet on the ground and pushing forward any goal and dream can be accomplished.

The FDI World Dental Federation, in its lead up to Vision 2020, has featured the importance of interprofessional education and collaborative practice for maintaining optimal oral health and the necessity for a dentist to have a leadership role in all aspects of oral health. Well-constructed learning outcomes based on the emerging health needs and local contexts aided by principles of adult learning and real-world experiences are mandatory to support interprofessional education.

The aging of the population and advances in healthcare necessitates the change and suggests a complete integration of dentistry and medicine.

This journal aims at publishing most complete and reliable source of information on current developments in the mode of Original Articles, Review Articles and Case Reports and I wish all the best for all your endeavours.

I look forward to meet you all at the gala event “Alumni meet 2019” to be held in the month of December 2019.
